MEET THE DOCTOR

Dr. Koenig is a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended local schools, graduating from Fort Smith High School (now Northside). He attended college at the University of Arkansas and Washington University (St. Louis). He graduated in 1969 from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine and thereafter received his specialty training in Family Practice and Pathology.

He is on the active staff of both St. Edwards and Sparks hospitals and admits patients to both institutions. Dr. Koenig is an independent physician, not being formally aligned with either Cooper Clinic or the Sparks Medical Foundation. This assures patients the best referrals for specialty care according to the patient's medical problem or insurance plan directives.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Koenig has been very active in a variety of medically related organizations on a state, national, and international level. He is the past president of NCCLS, an international medical standards creating organization. He has also been active in community affairs. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Bancorp South. He is the past president of Gateway House, and has served in numerous positions in his church, St. John's Episcopal Church.

Dr. Koenig has three adult sons and four grandsons. He enjoys Prison Ministry, playing String Bass, traveling, working in the yard, and relaxing in the Caribbean.
